The strength of our party comes from our members. In fact, our party’s constitution states that: “The members shall be the highest authority and supreme governing body of the Saskatchewan Party."
Yet over the past number of months, I have heard from many long-time party members who are feeling disengaged and frustrated. Some feel that our government has stopped listening to our grassroots members. Without the ideas, input and feedback from a strong and diverse membership base, our party - and consequently, our government - begins to weaken.
As leader I will:
- Propose the Saskatchewan Party return to annual policy conventions. This would require a constitutional amendment voted on by the members.
- Hold annual conventions that will include plenary policy sessions on proposed resolutions that will involve members of cabinet, legislative secretaries and our MLAs.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of all Saskatchewan Party policy to be held prior to the 2020 general election.
- Ensure all previously adopted policy resolutions are available on the Saskatchewan Party’s website in the interest of transparency and accountability to our membership and to the public.
